· 1 min read

My dissertation, “Measuring and Optimizing Peer-to-Peer Networks: A Case Study of the InterPlanetary File System”, passed its oral examination at the University of Göttingen on 5 January 2026. The examination board was:

  • Prof. Dr. Bela Gipp, 1st Reviewer
  • Prof. Dr. João Leitão (NOVA University Lisbon) 2nd Reviewer
  • Prof. Dr. Julian Kunkel
  • Prof. Dr.-Ing. Delphine Reinhardt
  • Prof. Dr. Bernhard Schmitzer
  • Dr. Moritz Schubotz.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who helped me on this way. Bela Gipp gave me the chance to do this PhD and opened doors early, when funding was still unclear. Moritz Schubotz kept me on track with regular meetings and shaped the research. Yiannis Psaras backed me from our first meeting. He is the reason I received the Protocol Labs PhD Fellowship and later joined Protocol Labs. Gareth Tyson helped me turn paper drafts into clear stories, including our SIGCOMM and INFOCOM papers. Cornelius Ihle and I got through the literature review together. Protocol Labs paid for the work. And my family made it possible to reach the finish line when time was short.

The thesis is on the Göttingen repository (DOI). You can also read the PDF.
